Hunger Street Tacos | Our Story
The restaurant that started as a craving
A husband's craving to make his wife happy — and what made her happy was a taco. That craving became a mission to bring Mexico City's street food to Winter Park.
Raised on Mexico's streets
Joseph Creech grew up in Guadalajara and Acapulco, then spent nine months following street vendors and market stalls across Mexico. There he met Seydi Plata — a Mexico City native whose favorite taco, the *taco de suadero*, originates from her home city.
A craving finally taken seriously
Seydi's longing for *taco de suadero* became impossible to ignore — so the Creeches started experimenting, landing on brisket for its perfect balance of fat and tenderness. Joseph's brother David joined, and they launched under a 10'x10' tent with two cast iron flat-tops.
The mission behind the tortilla
When the Winter Park brick-and-mortar opened ahead of schedule, the full vision arrived with it: family recipes, squash blossom quesadillas, Esquites simmered in bone-marrow broth. The goal — share Mexico's culture, art, and music, the way the Creeches first fell in love with it on *La Calle Del Hambre*.
Recognition from a loyal community
Multiple Orlando Sentinel Critics' and Readers' Choice wins for Best Tacos, plus the platinum Foodster Award for Best Craft Tacos. As Joseph puts it: "We have so many people who support us and want to see us succeed. We're very fortunate."
