Look for Birria Machete @hunger_street #Repost @orlandofoodcritic #tbt❤️ This is a great example of how the best food comes from need and adaptation. “Birria” actually means stinky and the dish was developed due to the necessity of masking the flavor of gamy meat with heavy spices and sauce. Obviously, these guys are using premium beef instead of goat or ram in their version, but they’re keeping it real with the birria consomé and all the little details. I love the crunch on the machete style taco. It played well with the moisture from the all the sauces. Have you seen this mural in our walls?Today on INT Have you seen this mural in our walls?Today on INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY! I’ll tell you the story behind it! This mural is called “Planting Dreams, Harvesting Hopes” by @lapiztola and @liseth.amaya.studio and is dedicated to an amazing Oaxacan indigenous woman named Betty Cariño, who has been a big influence for us, and we are very honored that @lapiztola shared with us their mural dedicated to her that once was erased by the government in Oaxaca, Mexico because of what it represents. Betty was a Mixtec Mexican indigenous and women rights defender and an advocate for food sovereignty, community water management, soil conservation, and the right to autonomy for indigenous peoples in Mexico and a defender of heirloom corn! To be a defender of these causes, she became an inconvenience for many, so April 27th 2010, Bety and Finnish international observer Jyri Antero Jaakkola were assassinated but they weren’t silenced as their voices live on in the paintings by Lapiztola all around the world and on our walls here in Orlando! #internationalwomensday2023 #internationalwomensday #iwdorlando #bettycariño #corn #heirloomseeds #heirloomcorn #heirloomtortillas #oaxacancorn #orlando #orlandotacos #tacosorlando #orlandobesttacos
